Author Bio

If life were like a novel, always with a theme, mine would be 'there is more to life than can be explained by your philosophy, Horatio.' My desire to know everything is only barely held in check by my need to excel at it… and an irritating lack of time to do everything. The result is that while I may have given up on learning to pole-vault, I will never stop exploring the Mysteries of the Divine.

Starhawk is to blame, or to thank (depending on your perspective) for my deep plunge into magick. Her work, Spiral Dance, revealed a universe heretofore unknown to me. Like so many others, I 'recognized' her words as the reality I did not realize I had been searching for. At the ancient age of thirteen I dedicated myself as a Priestess of the Lord and Lady and promised to walk the Path They set before me. It has been a difficult pledge to keep, at times. Very few of the plans I laid in my teen years have come to fruition, and what has come to me instead has been far more glorious than anything I could have envisioned for myselfI've been a practicing witch for more than two decades now and much of that work was solitary, although I did occasionally work within a variety of structured magickal groups. My learning came from many people in a variety of circumstances.

Several years ago, I joined an online class, and ended up participating in the formation of a cyber coven. In 2000 it 'hived' a daughter coven, JaguarMoon CyberCoven, and I stepped into the role of High Priestess. In July 2006 we birthed a daughter coven -- Southern Cross Coven, led by my long-time friend and former student, Mouse.

Although the mother coven no longer exists, JaguarMoon continues to teach Witchcraft online through its year-long Art of Ritual Class. We do not believe Wicca is the 'One True Way' and our lessons are designed to provide the student with a broad variety of information. Based on this, the student can draw his/her own conclusions. At the very least, the student will end their year with us feeling comfortable with every aspect of basic Wicca and have a strong basis for understanding many aspects of Witchcraft. Hopefully, s/he will also be able to discern the difference between someone who knows what they are talking about and a BS artist.

My unique experiences in cyberspace led me to write CyberCoven.Org at the turn of the century. This is the only book that takes you through every aspect of creating and maintaining an online coven and, at the time, was one of the few electronic books in the esoteric or occult genres. Red Wheel/Weiser Inc. published a 'beginner' version, The Virtual Pagan: Exploring Wicca and Paganism Through the Internet in April 2002. With these publications I became the first (and still one of the few) writers, and the only one in the field of esoteric writing, to be published in both print and electronic mediums. My latest book, (Magickal Connections), allows practitioners to explore and expand their positive group dynamics while minimizing negative interactions. It will be published by New Page in Spring 2007.

I have spoken at PantheaCon for the past several years, and am planning on doing so again in the future. I hope to expand my speaking opportunities at other Pagan gatherings around the United States over the coming years. Several articles of mine have appeared in PanGaia, SageWoman, and newWitch as well as the The Beltane Papers.

I was the Review Circle Coordinator for the Beltane Papers for many years (since Issue #26 when I took over from Marisa Young). In October of this year I resigned from that role so that I could move on and serve my community with a new endeavor: Facing North. Facing North is a community resource that is starting small, but has a lot of growth ahead of it. I see it as being a place where people will be able to visit to learn for decades to come.

Although the person I am now is radically different from who I once was, my roots remain
firmly imbedded within the child I was, the adolescent I became and the woman I grew into. Reading, writing, and books have provided the landmarks I follow along this unfolding journey.
